Manchester City’s star forward, Erling Haaland, ended a goal drought in the Premier League at a pivotal moment, scoring the match-winning goal in a thrilling 2-1 triumph over league leaders Arsenal. This victory significantly tightens the title race as City now trail Arsenal by just three points, with an extra game to play.

Before this match, Haaland had been goalless in league play since February, but his clinical strike in the 65th minute at the Etihad Stadium proved to be the game-changer. With five fixtures remaining, City can leapfrog Arsenal by securing a win against the struggling Burnley side on Wednesday.

Arsenal, long considered favorites to clinch their first league title since 2004, currently hold 70 points from 33 matches, while City have accumulated 67 points from 32 games. The Gunners’ unexpected home loss to Bournemouth last week opened the door for City to capitalize.

City started the encounter with high energy, quickly taking the lead through an impressive solo effort by Rayan Cherki in the 15th minute. However, Arsenal responded swiftly, capitalizing on a rare error by City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, allowing Kai Havertz to equalize within two minutes.

Both teams pushed hard in the second half, with Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze hitting the post, but it was Haaland who ultimately delivered, scoring his 23rd league goal of the season following a skillful assist from Nico O’Reilly.

This win not only boosts City’s morale but also intensifies the Premier League title race, which remains wide open as the season approaches its climax.
