(CHERY)
Chery Commercial Vehicle (CCV), a division of the international Chery Holding Group, has announced plans to unveil its innovative Delivan concept range at the upcoming Commercial Vehicle Show (CV Show). This event will be held at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre from April 21 to 23, 2026.
Scheduled for a 2027 release, the Delivan series is tailored specifically for the European market, offering a variety of configurations and sizes. This new line aims to compete directly with established commercial van models from brands like Ford, Renault, and Opel, among others.
Strategic Vision Behind Delivan’s Launch
Jolly Yang, Vice President of Chery Commercial Vehicle and CEO of Delivan, highlights that the timing of this launch is critical. The commercial vehicle industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the push towards electric powertrains, smart mobility solutions, and evolving logistics requirements.
“With the increasing global focus on combating climate change, the demand for electrified, connected, and efficient commercial vehicles is accelerating. We aim to pioneer a new era of intelligent commercial transport by integrating cutting-edge technology into our offerings,” Yang explained.
Chery’s Commercial Footprint in South Africa
While Chery South Africa currently has no immediate plans to introduce the Delivan range locally, this does not reflect a lack of interest in the market. In fact, the company made its initial foray into South Africa’s commercial vehicle sector in 2024 with the launch of the Tiggo 4 panel van.
Moreover, Chery has recently disclosed intentions to acquire the Nissan South Africa manufacturing facility, which produces the Nissan Navara for the African market. Industry insiders speculate that the assembly of Chery’s upcoming double-cab pickup, internally designated as KP31, could be based at this plant. This model is anticipated to debut publicly at the Auto Shanghai event next week.
