The memorial and funeral services for Albert Mazibuko, a former member of the renowned isicathamiya group Ladysmith Black Mambazo who passed away at 77 on Monday, have been postponed due to the ensemble’s ongoing international tour.

Since February 16, the group has been touring the United States and is expected to arrive back in South Africa this coming Sunday.

According to an official announcement from the band’s management on Tuesday, the memorial service will be held on April 15 at 10 AM at Covenant Fellowship Church International (CFCI) in Durban, followed by the funeral on April 18 in Ntabamhlophe, Estcourt.

“Ladysmith Black Mambazo, alongside Albert Mazibuko’s family, extends heartfelt thanks to the media, fans, and all South Africans who have shared their condolences, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Your kindness has been a source of comfort to everyone touched by Albert’s life,” the statement expressed.

“Currently engaged in an international tour, the group will return to South Africa on Sunday, April 12. This schedule has made it impossible to conduct the funeral services earlier.”

“We appreciate the patience and understanding shown by all during this period and kindly ask for continued prayers for Albert’s family and the entire Ladysmith Black Mambazo community as we prepare to celebrate his remarkable legacy.”
